Creating Community through Art
January 11 – February 12
Public reception: Sunday, January 25, 3-5 PM
This exhibition features artwork by people who have allowed art into their lives as a form of expression – including clients of art therapists from Nashville Coalition of Art Therapists; artists challenged by ALS, autism spectrum disorder, or learning differences who are presented by Art Tank, an enterprise created by Leisa Hammett whose mission is to encourage the independence of artists with disAbilities; and artwork created in a workshop with Best Buddies and the Harpeth Hall chapter of Best Buddies. The workshop was facilitated by Artist Mentors Evamarie Pappas-Oglander and Gary Oglander, Roger Marlowe, Massood Taj, Emily McGrew and Leisa Hammett; Dora Biegl and Martha Lund, co-directors of the Harpeth Hall Best Buddies chapter; Sellars Huy, President of the Best Buddies chapter and Harpeth Hall students; and representatives from Best Buddies Nashville, Missy Naff and Jenna Sanders.
